Murshid Quli Khan, the Mughal governor after whom Murshidabad is named, was a famous builder and constructed many public buildings. Most of these are within a close proximity to each other. His greatest achievement is the magnificent Katra Masjid. Hazar Duari is the most prominent attraction in Murshidabad.
