Best Time to Visit

December to April is the best time to enjoy a holiday in Kandy. The weather becomes dry and mostly pleasant during this time. Winters are mild in Sri Lanka and this time of the year is ideal for outdoor activities and sightseeing.

Kandy usually becomes highly crowded during the month of August for to the "Kandy EsalaPerehera" which is an annual tradition hosted annually at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth. This festival is an extravagant one and you can see the embellished night parade, more than 50 elephants, and colorful Kandyan dancers and drummers. This festival has attracted a large number of local and foreign tourists who value tradition, customs and Buddhist heritage.
