Description

Paro is a postcard-worthy beautiful town nestled in the Paro valley of Bhutan. Paro has grown increasingly popular for having the only international airport in Bhutan and the captivating ancient monastery called the Tiger's Nest. The city of Paro holds medieval dzongs and monasteries, ancient paintings, sculptures, and colorful buildings all deeply soaked in the secrets of the land. The city of Paro lies in the center of the Paro valley, which is considered the most fertile land in Bhutan. Paro valley is one of the greenest zones of Bhutan and the town of Paro is located on the banks of Pa Chu River.

How To Reach

From Phutsholing it takes 6 to 7h to reach Paro by car. The best and the most convenient way of reaching Paro is by flight. Paro has its own international airport located 7km away from the main town of Paro.

Best Time to Visit

October to December is the ideal time to visit Bhutan, as the air gets clear, cool and fresh with sunny skies. January and February are colder. The months of March and April sees dry and pleasant weather and abundance of rhododendrons flooding the land with color.

The currency in Bhutan is called the Bhutanese Ngultrum.

Try the delicious local flavors. Do not forget to try EmaDatshi here apart frtom hot pipping soup and momos and other Bhutanese food.
Shop for local handicrafts like wall decorations, lanterns, clothes, handbags, etc. at the Paro Craft Market.
Adventurous tourists can also go for trekking, kayaking, mountain biking, rafting etc.
Visit the Festival Ground of Paro where dancers in masks perform traditional Bhutanese folk dances.
