Colombo is Sri Lanka's prime city. The official capital of Sri Lanka, Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte, is also within the urban area of Colombo, so Colombo is also considered the prime capital city of Sri Lanka. Colombo has a rich colonial heritage, and has some very scenic and popular attractions.

How To Reach

Many direct flights operate between cities of south India such as Trivandrum, Bengaluru, Chennai and Colombo.
Colombo does not have its own airport. The main international airport of Sri Lanka is Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake, which is just more than an hour north of Colombo.

Best Time to Visit

Colombo is a year-round destination and you can visit here any time of the year. Apart from the heavy monsoons, which usually lasts between June and September, the weather is otherwise pleasant for most of the year. Winters are cool and is a perfect time to visit Colombo.
