Description

Phuntsholing is the second largest town in Bhutan that is sharing an Indian border next to the town of Jaigaon. Phuntsholing is more a commercial center than it is as a destination of tourism. Situated also at the foothills of Himalayas, it acts as the entry point to Bhutan. Phuntsholing is a popular place where people of various ethnic groups like Indian, Bhutanese, and Nepalese mingle prominently. The architecture here ismore inclined to the modern side. There is no dzong and has only one monastery. However, like all of Bhutan, it does offer a clean, pleasant and safe environment.

Distance: 710km from Kolkata.
Time: From Kolkata it takes 10 hours by train to reach NJP and 50 min by flight to reach Bagdogra Airport. From NJP and Bagdogra, it takes around 4 hours to reach Phuntsholing by car.

Winter is the best time to visit due to pleasant weather and low humidity.
