Description

Zuluk is the ultimate abode of peace and as it is close to the Indo-China border, there are military settlement also in this location. Zuluk has derived the importance of tourism due to the excellent view of the eastern Himalayan mountain range including the Kanchenjunga from here. Zuluk, the magnificent hamlet is situated at an altitude of almost 10,000 feet above the sea level in the eastern part of Himalaya.
The main attraction of Zuluk is its eye catching zig-zag path, which is also called Zuluk loop. Clouds play hide and seek with the valley of Zuluk and offers a breathtaking view of the surroundings. Zuluk acts as a base a trip to Silk Route and is a must-visit destination in Sikkim.

Distance: 695km from Kolkata.
Time: Around 6hr from Siliguri/NJP/Bagdogra by car and around 4.5 hours from Pakyong Airport.

Best Time to Visit

During the summer months, the area and its surrounding hills are covered with thousands of blooming rhododendron. Zuluk during these months, is a riot of colors due to the variety of rhododendron that grow here.
Those who love winters and snowfall, may visit Zuluk during December to February. However, the cold can be severe so carry enough warm clothes for protection.

Visit the local cave-like Nag Temple and see the deity of King Cobra.
Do not miss the wonderful sight of sunrise from Zuluk. You can also visit Thambi vew point to see the sun rising from the lofty mountain ranges.
While staying at Zuluk you can cover Padamchen, Lungthung, Nathang, Kupup Lake, Menmecho Lake, Tukla Valley and all other spots in the Silk Route circuit in day trips.
Zuluk has rich diversity of Himalayan fauna too. Zuluk also sees many migratory birds during winter months.
