Garumara is a very significant national park located at the foothills of Eastern Hilamalayas in the Terai region. Jaldhaka, a tributary of Brahmaputra flows right next to the national park. Garumara has a mixed vegetation of forest and grasslands and is mainly famous for Asiatic One Horned Rhinos.
Distance: 600km from Kolkata.
Time: 10 hours by train and 50 min by flight from Kolkata to NJP and Bagdogra respectively. From there, it takes almost 2.5 hours by car to reach Garumara.
Winter season between December and February is the best time to visit Garumara due to the pleasant weather conditions with low humidity. During Monsoon, the sanctuary remains closed.

Do visit the wonderful town of Chalsa situated on the foot of the Himalayas. The small town of Chalsa is surrounded by tea gardens, rivers, forests, and hills. One part of Chalsa is surrounded by Garumara National Park and another part by Chapramarhi Wildlife Sanctuary.
Book for a jungle safari from the forest department. Safari can be done both by car and elephant rides.
Go for a nature walk through the forest trails and walk up the towers for bird-watching.
