Description

Chatakpur, a small Himalayan village on the lap of Mother Nature, surrounded by the green forests of Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary is an ideal eco-tourism destination situated just 7km away from Sonada on the way to Darjeeling. This is a village of only 18 families having around 100 villagers, and their main occupation is terrace cultivation of organic crops and eco-tourism organized by the forest department. The snow-clad Kanchenjunga magnifies the beauty of Chatakpur.

How To Reach

Distance: 610km from Kolkata.
Time: 10 hours by train and 50 min by flight from Kolkata to NJP and Bagdogra respectively. From both Bagdogra and NJP, it takes around 2.5 hours to reach the destination of Chatakpur by car.

Winter is the best time to visit this place because of cool and pleasant weather and low humidity.
