Description

Jaipur is one of the first planned cities of India. Noted architect Vidyadhar Bhattacharya used the established principles of Vastu Shastra to build the city. The story goes that in 1876, the Prince of Wales visited India on a tour. Since the color pink was symbolic of hospitality, Maharaja Ram Singh of Jaipur painted the entire city pink. Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan or the 'Pink City' is also known for colored gems throughout the world. The bustling modern city of Jaipur is one of the three corners of the golden triangle that includes Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. Jaipur also serves as a stepping-stone for those who want to travel to the interiors of Rajasthan. The beautiful Pink City Jaipur of Rajasthan, was earlier a stronghold of a clan of rulers whose three hill forts and series of palaces have now become important tourist attractions.

How To Reach

Distance: You can take a flight or train from Kolkata to Jaipur.
14km driving distance from the Jaipur airport to the Pink City. The city center of Jaipur is only 3km away from the Jaipur station.
Time: Minimum flight duration from Kolkata to Jaipur is 2hr 30min and by train it takes 24hr 30min to reach Jaipur from Kolkata.

Best Time to Visit

Wintertime from November to February is the best time to feel the magic of Rajasthan. The days are pleasant whereas the night are cold and the temperature can drop below 4 degrees.
Do not forget to carry heavy woolens for protection.

The Pink City rejoices and celebrates the fairs and festivals with pomp and gaiety since time immemorial. These fairs and festivals reflect the rich culture and heritage of the region. If you visit Jaipur during the wintertime, you can witness the Kite Festival (mid Jan).
