Lamahatta is a small prepossessing village located 22km away from Darjeeling. This divine place is also filled with dense forests of pines which are standing majestically with the looming Kanchenjunga at the backdrop. The name of the place was derived from 'Lama' or 'monk' and 'Hatta' which means 'Hut' and so the name signifies a place of monk’s hermitage. Eco tourism started developing here since 2012 and is still considered a prominent off-beat destination.
