Every year during November or December, a 4-day Tansen Music Festival is celebrated in Gwalior and it sees various classical musicians from all over the country performing on the stage near the tomb itself. Gwalior has been the birthplace of many Indian Legends such as the former Indian Prime Minister, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, music maestro Amjad Ali Khan and the famous percussionist AllaRakha.

Best Time to Visit

October to March is the best time to visit Gwalior. However, those who loves little rains can also visit between July and September. The 4-day Tansen Music Festival in November/ December is also a great time to visit Gwalior if you are interested in enjoying the Indian classical music performances in a pleasant atmosphere.
