Description

Pelling is considered the second most important tourist destination in Sikkim after Gangtok. The major attraction is the spectacular gigantic view of Mt. Kanchenjunga. Pelling is another hill town well known for several historical sites & monasteries, natural landscapes including lakes and waterfalls, and its friendly and charming people.
The popular 'Kanchenjunga Festival' happens here every year in December. It is a great time to experience local food, ethnic and cultural programs including local dance and music, traditional art & crafts, wonderful flower shows etc. Many other activities also take place during this time including white water rafting in Rangit River, mountain biking, trekking, other traditional local sports etc.

Distance: 690km from Kolkata.
Time: You can take a train to NJP (10hr) or a flight to Bagdogra Airport (50min) from Kolkata. From NJP station or Bagdogra Airport, it takes around 6 hours to reach Pelling. Another nearby airport is the Pakyong Airport, from where it takes 5 hours to reach Pelling.

Best Time to Visit

Winter season and the onset of summers is the most favorable time to travel to Pelling. However, during the period between end of December and end of January can be severe cold.
Pelling experiences torrential rainfull during the Monsoon months.
