ReckongPeo or simply Peois considered the land of Gods and is a splendid beauty showcased by the Himalayas. ReckongPeo is the headquarter of the Kinnaur district and it lies in the middle of the Himalayas. The quaint town of ReckongPeo is famous for its apple orchards, deodars, apple orchards and pine trees, which enhance the beauty of the place even more. You can easily view the two greatest wonders of the Himalayas, i.e. the Kailash Mountain and the Shivaling rock from ReckongPeo.
ReckongPeois situated at an altitude of 2290 meters above the sea level. According to history, this destination was born on 1 May 1960 and was known as Kinnaura earlier. First, the Guge Kingdom of Tibet and then Akbar ruled it.
A brotherly fusion of Hinduism and Buddhism culture at one place reflects the existence of a well-preserved culture by its people even today in this era of modernization.

ReckongPeo does not have flight or train connectivity. The nearest major international airport is in Chandigarh, which is almost 350km away.
ReckongPeo is around 230km away from Shimla, which takes around 7h to reach. From Rampur, ReckongPeo is only 100km away that takes a maximum time of 3.5 h to reach.

Best Time to Visit

September to December is the best time for a vacation at ReckongPeo. After December, the temperature can fall further leading to chilly cold climate. Summers are pleasant here too and can be a good time to visit the mountain regions of Himachal Pradesh.
