Description

Situated on the India- Bangladesh Border, Dawki is a small town in the lap of the Jaintia Hills. Another place of immense natural beauty in Meghalaya, Dawki is known mainly as a coal exporter to Bangladesh and places of India. The main attraction here apart from the extreme natural beauty and peace is the Dawki Bridge. It is a suspension bridge over the Umngot River and it serves as a place from where all tourists can enjoy some spectacular panoramic views. The emerald color of the Dawki River is the major attractions of the place and hence Dawki tourism has flourished in the past few years.

How To Reach

From Guwahati, it takes 5h to reach Dawki by car covering a distance of 180km. From Shillong, it takes 3h to reach Dawki at a distance of 90km by road.

Best Time to Visit

Meghalaya enjoys a blessed weather during the winter months. Therefore, the period from October to March is the ideal time to visit Dawki and enjoy the natural splendors in and around Dawki.
