Pushkar

Description

Pushkar is one of the oldest cities of India and is an important center for pilgrimage of Hindus. Pushkar is surrounded by hillocks on all sides, which enhances its beauty. It is also called the Rose Garden of Rajasthan as the essence of Pushkar rose is exported all over the world. According to legends, Lord Brahma, the creator of the Universe dropped a lotus to the ground, which led to the immediate creation of a lake. He then decided to name the place after the flower, and hence the name, Pushkar. The city of Pushkar is home to the only temple dedicated to Lord Brahma in the whole world.
In addition to all these, the timeless architectural heritage of the 400 temples and the few other bathing ghats make Pushkar a fascinating destination.
