Description

Yuksam is a charming historical town in Sikkim.Yuksam is blessed with jaw-dropping gorgeousness and is also another entry point in Kanchenjunga. It is the base to some of the most fascinating trek routes. Yuksam is at a distance of 33 km away from Pelling and it literally meaning the 'meeting place of three lamas' is of great historical importance to the Sikkimese. It was here that the first Chogyal was crowned.

Distance: 700km from Kolkata.
Time: 6hr by car from NJP and Bagdogra Airport and 5hr from Pakyong Airport.

Best Time to Visit

Summer is an ideal time because of pleasant weather that prevails.
Winter is also a good time to visit. However, it turns frosty and chilly.

Tips

Trek to DubdiMonastry about 1 1/2km away from Yuksam.
Yuksom-Dzongri trek route is a classic one here in West Sikkim. You can explore it too.
See the cardamom plantation and then the dense wild forest of Rhododendron and Oak Trees.
Also visit the Kathog Lake and the Norbugang coronation throne, Buddhist temple and stupas.
Other beautiful sightseeing spots are Khecheopalri Lake, TashidingMonastry, Kanchendzonga National Park, KartokMonastry, TashiTeenka, etc.
