Description

Giridih is one of the famous mining towns of Jharkhand. Located at the center of North Chotanagpur Division, Giridih is an old and beautiful hamlet located amidst the hills. Giridih is a storehouse of ruby, mica and coalfields. The word "Giridih" means land of hills occupy the upland area of the region. Vast stretches of forests cover maximum part of the district. Sal tree is most common here, apart from bamboo, semal, palash and mahua. Giridih has a rich source of minerals, mica being one of them. Barakar and Sakri are the two important rivers flowing through the district.
