Description

Leh is a town in the Leh district of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It was the capital of the Himalayan kingdom of Ladakh, a land with superabundance of attractions to visit. Massive 17th-century Leh Palace, modeled on the Dalai Lama's former home, overlooks the old town's bazaar and mazelike lanes.

How To Reach

The easiest way to travel to Leh and Ladakh is by air. The nearest airport is KushokBakulaRimpochee Airport located in Leh. This airport is connected with many international airports in India like Delhi. It also receives flights from Srinagar, Jammu, Chandigarh and other common destinations in India.
You can also take a flight till Srinagar and from there reach Leh by road. The route covers Sonmarg, Zozi La, Drass, Kargil, Mulbek, Lamayaru and Saspol before reaching Leh. This route is open from May to October. It is the most scenic route with many attractions in its path. Some young-heart adventurous souls would also prefer a bike ride, all to free their minds and enjoy the beauty of the ride.

Best time to visit Lehand Ladakhstarts from May and lasts till October though it is advisable to visit till September to enjoy the best because the place experiences heavy snowfall post September to February.
