Description

Sillery Gaon is yet another pristine village adorned with the dense forest of pine trees in the Kalimpong District. Sillery Gaon is a sleepy hamlet that experiences a laid back life amidst the lap of Mother Nature. The mystic and picturesque village enjoys the marvelous backdrop of Mt. Kanchenjunga and other hills and mountains. The name Sillery comes from an edible green known as 'Sillery Saag' which was earlier cultured and harvested here by the villagers and sold in the market.

How To Reach

Distance: 650km from Kolkata.
Time: 10 hours by train and 50 min by flight from Kolkata to NJP and Bagdogra respectively. From there, it takes 2.5 hours to reach Sillery Gaon by car.

Best Time to Visit

Winter is the best time to visit this place because of cool and pleasant weather and low humidity.

Visit Ramitey viewpoint and Tinchuley view point. During your leisure time, you can take a walk around the village and the forest areas of Sillery Gaon.

Visit the Silence Valley and Damsang Fort too.
You can also visit Pedong, Kalimpong and Zuluk and Aritar in Sikkim which are all located closeby.
