Description

Bindu, another off-beat destination is a small village at an altitude of 600m on the India-Bhutan border. This destination is also famous for its cardamom plantation, pristine nature and river Jaldhaka. Bindu is scenically placed in Kalimpong district among the high mountains all around with Jaldhaka River flowing through the valley making a natural border between Bhutan and India. The Jaldhaka Dam, one of the oldest Hydro-electric projects between India and Bhutan is also located here.

Duration

Distance: 640km from Kolkata.
Time: 10 hours by train and 50 min by flight from Kolkata to NJP and Bagdogra respectively. From there, it takes almost 3 hours by car to reach Bindu. From Garumara, it takes an hour to visit the site of Bindu.

Best Time to Visit

Winter season between December and February is the best time to visit Bindu due to the pleasant weather conditions with low humidity. During Monsoon, the sanctuary remains closed.
