Kanha National park is another the haven of an exceptionally wide variety of wild animals, especially known for the tiger.Wide-open grass plains, scattered bamboo forests play host to a wide variety of wildlife and diverse birdlife with several hundreds of species. Located in a central region of Madhya Pradesh, Kanha is the largest National Park in central India and has been ranked as one of the best parks in Asia.The Royal Bengal Tigers are a major attraction.The park was established in the year 1955 and since then it has actively contributed to the preservation of many endangered species. The National Park was taken under the Project Tiger Reserve in 1974. TheKanha National Park houses one of the rarest species of deer - the Barasingha. Kanha is one of the most scenic wildlife reserves in Asia today and this National Park become more popular through Rudyard Kipling's book - The Jungle Book.
Other important animals in this park are leopards, wild dogs and cats, foxes, hyenas, jackals, sloth bears, langurs, and wild boars. Reptiles including pythons, cobras, and other varieties of snakes are also found in this National Park. Kanha National Park is a commercialized destination and sees many tourists from all over the world. There are plenty of stores from where tourists can buy traditional handicrafts, t-shirts and souvenirs.

How To Reach

The nearest airport is in Jabalpur, located 200km away, which connects Kanha National Park with all major cities of India. The nearest station is also in Jabalpur. One can take a cab from the station to reach the National Park.

Best Time to Visit

The National park is open only from mid-October to June end. Best time to visit this place is between October to March as weather turns hotter post during April, May and June.
