Description

Orchha, situated on the banks of River betwa, is known for its grand palaces, striking forts and intricately carved temples. The medieval architectures, palaces and temples reflects the story of Orchha's rich heritage.
Orchha was the capital of the powerful Bundela dynasties. The sheer magnificence and grandeur of the temples and havelis are absolutely awestriking. Orchha is also world-renowned for its classic mural paintings and frescos. Queen of Orchha, named Ganeshi Bai, built the world famous temple, Chaturbhuj Temple. Raj Mandir, Daujiki Haveli, Chhatris and Lakshmi temple are few other places that you cannot miss.

How To Reach

Gwalior airport is around 130km from Orccha, which takes around 3h by car to reach. Orchha has its own railway station and good network of roadways.

Best Time to Visit

The town turns exuberant during the festive season of Dusshera in the month of October. October to March is the ideal time to explore the historical and architectural glory of Orchha. The temperature drops and turns very pleasant and cool. Summers call for extreme temperature and should be avoided by the tourists.
