Description

The Bandhavgarh National Park in Madhya Pradesh is a beautiful forest with wildlife and vegetation in abundance. Bandhavgarh is known to have the highest density of Royal Bengal Tigers in the world and the frequent sightings of royal tigers make this national park a must-visit for all wildlife enthusiasts. Earlier, this was a hunting ground for the Maharaja of Rewa. The National Park got its name from the Bandhavgarh fort situated at the height of 800 m high cliffs nearby.
There are various other species of flora and fauna found here that form huge attractions too for the tourists apart from the tiger sighting. Animals like Jackals, fox, hyenas, monkeys, wild boars, nilgai, chinkara, gaur, jungle cats and leopards are also found here.

How To Reach

Nearest airport to Bandhavgarh is the Jabalpur Airport located at a distance of around 175km, which takes around 4h to reach.
Bandhavgarh is well connected by roadways and rail station too. Umaria is the nearest railway station to Bandhavgarh located at a distance of 35km from the National Park.

Best Time to Visit

The National Park opens its gate for the visitors from October-mid to June end. The peak season is from November to February as the climatic conditions become excellent.

Tips

Visit Bandhavgarh Fort and Caves. You can also visit Village Tala, Baghel Museum, Mahaman Pond, etc.
You can go for Bandhavgarh forest jeep safari either in the early morning or in the afternoon. Since Bandhavgarh is very popular, it is advisable to book a jeep in advance, as only a limited number of jeeps are allowed in each shif.
