Description

It is a famous religious place in Southern Odisha where the twin sister Goddess i.e. Tara & Tarini adorn the sanctum situated on the top of a hillock girdled by the holy river Rushikulya. Taratarani attracts thousands of devotes, picnickers and visitors throughout the year. Special auspicious dates connected with the rites and titular of the twin goddess are celebrated here. Walking over 999 steps from the foot of the hill, to the hilltop under shadows of green plantation is very much amusing and pleasure making.

Taratariniis situated just 7km away from Purushottampur and 30km away from Berhampur. The airport closest to Bhubaneswar, which is 174 km from Berhampur.

Tips

Take a ropeway ride from the foothills to the hilltop to reach the famous Taratarini Temple. Kindly take offerings such as coconuts and candles for the temple. However, be aware of monkeys at the hilltop. Visit the temple during the Chaitra Parba according to the lunar calender. This time is considered sacred and auspicious for darshaan of goddesses Tara and Tarini.
